Two simple super strategies you can start today:
Reading
Read with your children on a daily basis:
- Share independent reading time
- Engage in book talks. Focus on four magic words, “What do you think?” and be an active listener.
- Read an equal amount of fiction and nonfiction.
Writing
Write with your children on a daily basis:
- Talk with your children about the day’s events and experience.
- Be clear and seek clarity. Encourage them to express themselves with emotion and details.
- Then, “Talk with the Pen.” Write the words of your conversation.
