About Brian Kissman

Brian Kissman thinks out of the box.  He is a creative, lifelong learner and professional educator.  He has authored three books, is a practicing artist, athlete, and world traveler. 

He has been an educator for over 25 years. He has a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. He taught for 15 years and has served as a school administrator for 10 years.

Over half of his career has been on the international schools circuit; in addition to being a native Michigan educator, he has lived and worked in Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Japan and Liberia West Africa. His next stop is Hong Kong International Schools, where he will serve as Literacy Specialist.

His areas of professional interest and expertise are best practices of instruction, literacy, and purpose-designed learning environments.

He is the author of Literacy Mats: The ABC's of Reading, Writing and Communicating; The Phonics Things Book and Banners; and Multiplication Mats.
